I am having problems using iTerm2. Sometime over the last year, iTerm2 has become very sensitive to clicks and keeps opening browser windows for a wide variety of things: URLs (reasonable), IP Addresses (eh?), code functions (wtf?) and in general nearly anything with a period in it.

I want to completely disable and prevent this from ever happening, but I can't find a preference to disable this. I am using fairly stock settings, only have chosen the dark background, large buffer, and larger default window size.

I have checked the smart selection rules, and every one of them say "add things to context menu" with no other actions.

How can I disable this misfeature and disable iTerm2 ever, for any reason at all, opening a browser tab?  In the extremely rare circumstances that I want to go to a URL, I am perfectly happy copying the URL and pasting it to a tab.

What version are you using? The nightly build is much, much smarter about what cmd-click opens.

That said, there's a setting under prefs>Pointer for Cmd-Click opens filename/url, which you can turn off to disable the feature.

This is happening without pressing Cmd. That’s my problem with it. But I’ve disabled this as well.

That's pretty weird. If the issue happens for you with the nightly build, please send me a debug log [https://code.google.com/p/iterm2/wiki/DebugLogging]. (2.0.x doesn't have enough logging to diagnose the problem you describe, but the nightly build does.)
