Hi all,

I've been fighting with a display issue in Vim since the latest update: https://github.com/vim/vim/issues/19616#issuecomment-4020008806

It seems to have narrowed down to the latest iTerm version behaving differently regarding "background colour erase" (t_ut). The issue started when I installed Build 3.6.8, though unfortunately I didn't recall the exact version I had before this started.

Is this a change in iTerm, a difference in terminfo, or something that Vim interprets to enable t_ut=y ? TERM is set to `xterm-256color` by iTerm and I have tried Vim versions from over a year ago with the same results, so I'm pretty sure it's not a change in Vim.

The issue did not reproduce on an earlier iTerm with the smae ncurses version, so I don't think it was a terminfo issue. Nonetheless, I am using homebrew vim and ncurses, so I believe the ncurses version is 6.6.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

It's most likely been (about to be) fixed:

Where most importantly George said:

The offending commit has been reverted and I'll release 3.6.9 soon with it

Oh thanks for the pointer.

I did check the issue list but somehow missed that.
