Open Science and Replicability in the Biomedical Sciences

Luogo: Aula Magna C presso l’Università 'Magna Graecia' di Catanzaro (UMG), Campus di Germaneto (Viale Europa, Loc. Germaneto, 88100, Catanzaro).
Il seminario, organizzato dal Prof. Marco Tullio Liuzza e dalla Prof.ssa Maria Eugenia Caligiuri si propone di discutere del problema della replicabilità nell’ambito delle scienze biomediche. Il taglio sarà fortemente interdisciplinare e includerà relazioni incentrate sia sulle scienze comportamentali che su neuroscienze e imaging. Oltre all’esposizione del problema della replicabilità, verranno illustrate possibili soluzioni mirate a migliorare la qualità e la credibilità della ricerca.
Interverranno, oltre ai due Host, la Prof.ssa Valentina Parma (Monell Chemical Senses Center, USA), il Prof. Francesco Santini (University of Basel, Switzerland) e la Dott. ssa Sophie Schauman (Karolinska Institutet, Sweden).
Il seminario è stato finanziato dal DSMC (Dipartimento di Scienze Mediche e Chirurgiche) nell'ambito delle iniziative promosse dalla Commissione per la Promozione dell'Internazionalizzazione del DSMC.

Date: Friday, June 28, 2024, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Aula Magna C at the University 'Magna Graecia' of Catanzaro (UMG), Germaneto Campus (Viale Europa, Loc. Germaneto, 88100, Catanzaro).
The workshop, organized by Prof. Marco Tullio Liuzza and Prof. Maria Eugenia Caligiuri, aims to discuss the problem of replicability in the biomedical sciences. The workshop will be strongly interdisciplinary and include talks focusing on behavioral sciences, neuroscience, and imaging. In addition to the exposition of the replicability problem, possible solutions to improve the quality and credibility of research will be outlined.
Besides the two hosts, the speakers will be: Prof. Valentina Parma (Monell Chemical Senses Center, USA), Prof. Francesco Santini (University of Basel, Switzerland), and Dr. Sophie Schauman (Karolinska Institutet, Sweden).
The seminar was funded by the DSMC (Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences) as part of the initiatives promoted by the DSMC's Commission for the Promotion of Internationalization.
