FYI:

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to share the call for applications for the PhD curriculum in Cognitive, Social and Affective Neurosciences (CoSAN), part of the PhD Program in Psychology and Social Neuroscience at Sapienza University of Rome.

The program offers four fully funded PhD positions supported by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), as well as one additional position without a scholarship. PhD activities are carried out in English and involve a stimulating research environment across the Department of Psychology at Sapienza University, the Santa Lucia Foundation, and the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Rome.

The CoSAN curriculum provides advanced training in cutting-edge areas of cognitive, social, and affective neuroscience, including embodiment, interoception, empathy, performance monitoring, social decision making, autism, embodied morality, neuroleadership, and several other topics at the intersection of mind, brain, and behavior.

Students will have access to a wide range of state-of-the-art methodologies, including non-invasive brain stimulation techniques (TMS, tDCS, tACS, FUS), EEG, fMRI, physiological recordings, immersive virtual reality, eye tracking, motion analysis, lesion studies, and computational modeling.

The annual scholarship amounts to approximately €16,243 before taxes, with the possibility of a 50% increase during research periods abroad. A dedicated track is also available for self-funded international applicants.

The application deadline is June 17th, 2026, at 14:00 CEST.
