ITA in the news, recent events, upcoming needs

Greetings, everyone!

I have some great PR news!

One of our students, Jerry Li, became the first in the academy to receive the CompTIA A+ certification and he's being recognized in today's edition of the TriCity Voice! http://www.tricityvoice.com/displayPages.php?issue=2011-01-18&page=17

Also, on Friday, I took 9 ITA students who are in the Student Tech Support Program over to Horner Junior High and we showed the 7th and 8th grade technology classes how to assemble 10 computers - details/pictures have been posted to our facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Irvington-high-school-ITA/170628389616939

On Saturday, we had 38 students volunteer to help man our triennial ewaste recycling drive to benefit ITA. Previous events have brought in ~$300. NOTE; our ewaste vendor is willing to give us credits for referrals - so IF YOUR COMPANY HAS EWASTE and is willing to divert it to our organization, please send me an email and we'll get that organized. https://sites.google.com/site/itaatirvington/how-you-can-help/ewaste-collection-fund-raisers

We are also going to Horner Junior High tomorrow to spread the word to 8th graders about signing up for ITA. I have attached a brochure and would appreciate your feedback, as there will be other recruitment opportunities on the horizon where I can improve upon the design and content.

We've already had 2 female guest speakers from Pleasanton Unified School District IT Department (and working on a trip to the new Computer History Museum, Hurricane Electric ISP, and GeekSquad in Milpitas BestBuy)
