Una strada in salita

Il giornale italo-australiano "La Fiamma" ha riportato di recente:
"Il Senato ha detto finalmente sě alle due azioni e la strada
per il primo ministro č ora tutta in salita."
[ The Senate finally said yes to the two actions and the
road for the Prime Minister is now all uphill. ]
Il primo ministro, infatti, ha voluto le azioni.
In inglese, "the road is all uphill from here" significa
che la parte piu` difficile e` ancora nel futuro. "The road's all
downhill from here" e` invece una buona cosa - il resto sara` una
crociera senza difficolta`.
Significa il modo di dire un concetto opposto in italiano?
E` una cosa positiva "una strada in salita"?

No, Ray, il concetto e' identico. In salita, cioe' il lavoro e' ancora tutto
da fare. Credo che l'autore si riferisse al fatto che ora il Primo Ministro
deve varare il decreto che permetta di dare corso alle azioni con le quali
lui e' pure concorde. Oppure, il Senato ha dato via libera ma la Camera dei
Deputati potrebbe non fare altrettanto. Oppure, ma qui sto andando a lume di
naso, puo' darsi che Senato e Premier siano d'accordo ma che ci siano altre
parti sociali (che so, sindacati, associazioni di categoria o simili) che
non lo sono affatto, per cui siano necessarie ulteriori approvazioni e per
questo la strada sia tutta in salita.
In ogni caso, il significato dell'espressione e' uguale all'inglese.

Come ti ha già spiegato l'autorevolissima Isa, l'espressione italiana ha lo
stesso significato di quella inglese: il cammino che resta da fare è ancora
più arduo.
Abbiamo anche l'espressione opposta, corrispondente all'inglese "the road is
all downhill from here": la strada è tutta in discesa.
Scegli la strada che preferisci!! :-))

Grazie. Il giornale invece faceva riferimento al primo
ministro australiano, John Howard, che ha i numeri nella
"House of Representatives". I due azione erano la vendita
di un extra 16,6 per cento della Telstra (Aussie Telecom --
ie. la sua privatisazione) e l'introduzione di una tassa
di valore aggiunto su beni e servizi.
Il giornale continua: "... il primo ministro, contendo a
stento la sua euforia, ha potuto parlare dei 'sette giorni
piu` produttivi' dall'insediamento del suo governo nel
1996."
Con cio`, and con le mia conoscenza della politica
australiana - che confesso non e` grande - mi sembrava
che la strada sarebbe ora in discesa. Pero` forse
dovrei leggere le notizie in inglese prima di commentare
piu`. ;-)

Uh Huh. Well, we do have our fascists in Australia, and
some of them are Italian. (The leader of the ultra right-
wing One Nation Party, Pauline Hanson, was largely a
creation of a Sig. Pasquarelli.)

I'm not prepared to speak about it due to the fact I dont give a damn about
any "political" event, but I can point out now they are called Alleanza
Nazionale and that one of the last elections (too many to be followed in
details) has "sdoganato" (neologism used as a verb coming from custom
clearance, could be to clear) the party and unofficially reintroduced them
onto our public life
BTW do you know whats doing a "member of Italian military police force"

In realta' non era questo che volevo dire, e non c'e' bisogno che ti scusi.
Non e' che volessi fare dell'apologia da due lire. Ma la battuta per
