A che cosa servono le forme "mark'd", "launch'd" e "form'd"? Alla
metrica (se ci fosse una) di sicuro no, giacché la pronuncia di
"marked", "launched" e "formed" è la stessa.

apostrophe in lyric poetry as a prelude to her argument; she finds that
Whitman blends many different “modes” of apostrophe to make a case “for
American unity, democratic fullness, and national cohesion” on the brink
of the Civil War (36).
