"Well I found the fix to this issue.
After 3 years of using my Mac G5 dual, the fans started going really
loud at full speed and the computer freezes after force shutdown and
restart or unplugging the power it just goes to black screen, it was
annoying to keep pressing the reset button everytime that happens..
I am an engineer, so I reloaded the software to Leopard but the same
still happens so I wanted to see what Apple would think, they told me it
needs a new logic board and quoted me like 700 - what a joke I could
add a little and buy a new one - anyway it was one of those days where
we had to figure out a solution to a problem no one yet knows what to
do, especially with Macs.
So here's what I've done: I and my friend Eddie took the G5 apart, logic
board, sensors, power supply hard disks everything and left the case
totaly empty including the 2 processors.
First thing is took out all the dust inside the case inside the power
supply and on the motherboard, brushed everything till they became shiny
new, brushed all the fans, replaced the thermal grease on the processors
and put everything back tight and neat.
I added a small fan to the graphic card too. Replaced the motherboard
battery.
It's been 1 month now and the G5 hasn't said a word; it's working like a
charm and never again froze or the fans went full speed. So far, so
good. It's quite hard to do this job but worth it; it saved me 700 and
it took about 1 hour.
DUST is the issue, but not surface dust; it's the dust hidden that you
can't see inside the componenents.
I later went to Apple and gave them the G5 just to check it. They asked
what I've done to fix it; I still didn't tell them."
