PRESS RELEASE

Issued: Monday 03 July 2000

This an automated E-Mail from the Falmouth Lifeboat Station Web site
to inform you of a recent callout as detailed below :

LIFEBOAT CALL

Boat: Inshore

Date: Monday 03 July, 2000

Service: Persons reported in difficulties

Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Glen Reed, Mark Pollard

Location: Off Prince of Wales Pier, Falmouth Inner Harbour

Weather: SE 2, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Partly Cloudy

The Action:
At 03:28 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched following a report to
Falmouth Coastguard of two people in difficulty off Prince of Wales
Pier, Falmouth Inner Harbour. One casualty was believed to be onboard
a moored boat, while the other was adrift in a dinghy. The Coastguard
Mobile and Police units were also tasked to assist.

The Inshore Lifeboat arrived on scene at 03:30 and located one of the
casualties on a motor boat moored off the pier. He was taken off the
boat and landed ashore into the care of the police. The Inshore
Lifeboat, Coastguards, and Police then commenced a search of the Inner
Harbour from Prince of Wales Pier to Greenbank Quay to try and locate
the second casualty. At 03:41 the Inshore Lifeboat located the dinghy
drifting close to the shore at Well Beach. The dinghy was made secure,
before the search of the Harbour continued. At 04:02 the Police
confirmed that the second casualty had been located at his home
address. The Inshore Lifeboat returned to recover the dinghy, which was
towed to Prince of Wales Quay where it was safely secured.

Once the Police were satisfied that all persons had been accounted for
the Inshore Lifeboat was released to return to station.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back at station by 04:20, where it was
refuelled and ready for service by 04:35.
