PRESS RELEASE

Issued: Saturday 08 July 2000

This an automated E-Mail from the Falmouth Lifeboat Station Web site
to inform you of a recent callout as detailed below :

LIFEBOAT CALL

Boat: Inshore

Date: Saturday 08 July, 2000

Service: Medical Evacuation from racing yacht "Just One More"

Crew: Dave Nicoll (Helmsman), Carl Beardmore, Alister Heane

Location: Off St Anthony Lighthouse, Entrance to Falmouth Harbour

Weather: NW 3-4, Slight Sea, Good Visibility, Partly Cloudy

The Action:
At 12:09 Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was launched by Falmouth Coastguard
after the 24ft racing yacht 'Just One More' called them reporting that
one of their crew had fallen and was believed to have dislocated his
shoulder whilst taking part in a race between Falmouth and Fowey. The
yacht was 1 mile South of St Anthony Lighthouse and headed back
towards Falmouth to rendezvous with the Inshore Lifeboat.

At 12:14 the Inshore Lifeboat arrived alongside the yacht which by
then was off St Anthony Light, and a crewman was transferred to the
yacht to assess the casualties condition and to prepare him for
transfer to the Inshore Lifeboat. By 12:20 the casualties arm had been
strapped to prevent further injury and the transfer had been completed.
The Inshore Lifeboat headed back to station where the casualty was
landed at 12:35 to a waiting Ambulance. He was then taken to Treliske
Hospital for further treatment.

The Inshore Lifeboat was back on its slipway by 12:45, where it was
refuelled and ready for service by 13:00.
