Role: Program Manager – Cybersecurity

Location: Atlanta, GA/Smyrna, GA/Forest Park, GA

Position Type: Contract

 

Required Skills Experience: 10 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity, with 5 years in program or project management.

 

The Program Manager – Cyber Defense is responsible for overseeing and coordinating complex cybersecurity initiatives across cloud, network, and security operations domains. The role involves managing cross-functional teams of engineers, analysts, and architects to ensure the effective delivery of cyber defense capabilities, security controls, and technology transformation programs.

 

Program Management Governance

a. Lead and manage multiple cybersecurity programs covering cloud security, network security, SOC operations, and engineering initiatives.

b. Develop and maintain program plans, roadmaps, and KPIs aligned with enterprise security goals.

c. Establish governance frameworks to ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, etc.).

d. Drive regular status reviews, risk assessments, and executive reporting.

 

2.Cyber Defense Operations

a. Oversee Security Operations Center (SOC) activities including incident detection, response, and threat hunting.

b. Collaborate with SOC, threat intel, and incident response teams to enhance detection and response capabilities.

c. Partner with security engineering teams to implement automation, SOAR playbooks, and AI-driven analytics.

 

3.Cloud Network Security

a. Manage cloud security programs across AWS, Azure, and GCP including identity, workload protection, and compliance.

b. Oversee network security architecture and defense projects (firewalls, NAC, VPN, Zero Trust).

c. Coordinate vulnerability remediation, patch management, and risk mitigation activities with platform teams.

 

4.Engineering Automation

a. Drive implementation of security tools and platforms (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, CSPM, CNAPP, PAM, etc.).

b. Work with DevSecOps and engineering teams to embed security in CICD pipelines and cloud environments.

c. Promote security automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce mean time to detect/respond (MTTDMTTR).

 

5.Stakeholder Vendor Management

a. Partner with business units, IT operations, and application teams to align cyber defense strategy with business needs.

b. Manage vendor relationships for security tools, managed services, and technology implementations.

c. Lead cross-functional collaboration for audit readiness, compliance, and regulatory reporting.

 

Required Skills Experience:

·         10 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity, with 5 years in program or project management.

·         Strong understanding of cloud security, network defense, and security operations concepts.

·         Experience managing SOC, SIEMSOAR, EDRXDR, and threat intelligence initiatives.

·         Proven track record in delivering enterprise-scale cybersecurity programs across hybrid environments.

·         Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, MITRE ATTCK, and Zero Trust Architecture.

·         Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

·         Certifications preferred PMP, CISSP, CISM, AWS Azure Security Specialty, or equivalent.
