Frankly, we have serious doubts whether the two Republicans who voted 
against Betsy DeVos yesterday would have done so if the vote had been 
closer, which is to say if their votes actually counted. They could 
afford to lose 2 votes and they used both of them, as a sop to their 
constituents in those states, like oh sure, we're on your side. 

DeVos and her husband have an interest in a student debt collection 
company. Is that supposed to be her qualification to be secretary of 
education? DeVos is so patently unqualified, only a combination of 
lots of corrupt campaign contributions and utter shamelessness could 
have supported a vote for her. 

So now we have yet another oligarch confirmed who is in fact hostile 
to the presumed mission of the agency they are supposed to lead. 
Expect lots more money for PRIVATE interest charter schools, which 
she had strongly and publicly supported, and a collapse of our vital 
public education infrastructure. 

Our candid assessment was that none of these people could be stopped 
without Republican opposition. And it is obvious that on the question 
of these nominations it is circle the wagons time against constituent 
protests in Washington. 

This in no way relieves us of our obligation to keep speaking out. If 
anything it heightens our obligation. We need to lay down these 
markers so that when these people totally screw up our country, as 
did George W. Bush, we can remind the American people in the next 
election who was really looking out for their interests. And 
hopefully people will not forget again. 

Because the fact is that all the populist rhetoric still coming out 
of Trump's mouth as just as big a fraud as his defunct university. He 
said he would fight for the people. Instead he is doing the bidding 
of his fellow oligarchs in every respect. He said he would keep us 
from starting reckless and foolish wars, and the first thing he does 
is go out of his way to make military threats, which can only be 
backed up with unilateral military action. 

Yes, friends, the big fraud of this administration is just beginning 
to get cranking. The big lies about every thing both small and large 
are just beginning to get rolling. He even tried to take credit for 
the most recent good jobs report which he had nothing to do with.

But perhaps the biggest fraud of all is Republican opposition to 
so-called Obamacare. When they knew it would be vetoed there was not 
a day in the week they did not vote to repeal it. Now that they have 
the votes and the presidential pen to actually do it, suddenly they 
are not interested in having that vote anymore, not even to bring up 
again the bills they passed so many times before. See "if their vote

Now, here's the interesting part. If the Republicans do not replace 
Obamacare with something better as they promised, as Obamacare 
continues to collapse, as it will, the American people will start to 
blame the Republicans, not the Democrats. 

But the only way to maximize the effect is for us to speak out to 
demand something actually better, Medicare for All.
