Hi members
I'm a CISA but currently not employed, was made redundant and * mths
on I'm still searching for jobs in London. I think some employers
would prefer not to hire women of child bearing age. I'm now thinking
about going freelance or starting my own IT audit consultancy.
However, I do get cold feet coz I don't know where to start, how to
get clients, etc. I'm thinking of starting from home with a website to
advertise my services. Has anyone got any advice for me?

Hi Sigit
Thanks for pointing me to this site, but it doesn't have UK jobs,
where I'm based.

In reply to ur email about CISA exam, my advice is that you have to
read the official CISA review manual(no shortcuts) and understand it
thoroughly. Then go through the question bank. Try to answer questions
before looking at the answers and for the ones that u get wrong, go
back to the manual. NB: Even if u get the answers right, make sure you
read and understand the explanations. Unfortunately, there are no
tricks with CISA exam, but if you are of an IT background, tune your
brain to the "ISACA" way of thinking when answering questions. Good
luck.

I agree. Try to get as many practice questions as you can. While
they are multiple choice, there isn't always ONE right answer. They
ask you to pick the BEST answer from many that have different degrees
of correct-ness. So, the more you can prepare yourself for that, the
better.

Also, be prepared to give the 'proper' answer. When I sat for the
exam, someone gave me good advice: "Answer the questions like you
would answer your mom's questions," meaning they want to 'textbook'
answer, not the real-world answer. For example: (Q) How fast do you
drive on the highway? (A) 65 MPH (the 'proper' answer, vs. the correct
answer of 85 MPH).

Hope that makes sense and helps...
