A 23-YEAR-OLD Noida call centre employee was allegedly murdered by her team leader because she was having an affair with another man.

The incident came to light on March 3, when Pooja Jaiswal's body was found floating in Badkhal Lake in the Surajkund area of Faridabad by the police.

The victim's family alleged that the Faridabad police did not lodge a murder case and had even cremated her body.

Pooja left her residence in Sector 22 on March 1 for a Holi party, her family members said.

They alleged that Pooja's team leader Daljeet Singh (35) had invited her. "He took her to Faridabad and killed her," Pooja’s brother-in-law Dalip Bhatia said.

Her family also said she was raped before being killed.

"When she did not return, we lodged a complaint at the Sector 24 police station on March 2," Bhatia said. Pooja's family members met Daljeet in his office to enquire about her. Daljeet's conflicting versions made them suspicious.

Pooja's family obtained Daljeet's cell phone call details.

They found that he had called up Pooja seven times between 12.47 pm and 1.26 pm on March 1.

Noida superintendent of police Ashok Kumar Tripathy said: "A case of murder has been registered against Daljeet and his colleague Sandeep Srivastava." Circle officer ( II) Ambesh Chandra Tyagi said: "Daljeet has confessed to the murder. He took her to Surajkund on March 1 where he pushed her into Badkhal Lake after an argument." Surajkund station house officer Ajit Singh said: "We waited for 72 hours and then cremated the body. The girl's family later identified her clothes." On why the police did not register a murder case, he said, "The postmortem did not show any injuries."
