TTSReader extracts the text from pdf files, and reads it out loud. Also useful for simply copying text from pdf to anywhere. In addition, it highlights the text currently being read - so you can follow with your eyes. If you specifically want to listen to websites - such as blogs, news, wiki - you should get our free extension for Chrome

Scan or take a picture of any image and Speechify will read it aloud to you with its cutting-edge OCR technology. Save your images to your library in the cloud and access it anywhere. You can now listen to that note you got from a friend, relative, or other loved one.

Hi Warren, I am one of those small, randomly selected people, and I ABSOLUTELY love this feature. I have consumed more ideas than I ever have on Medium. And also as a non-native English speaker, this is really helping me to improve my pronunciation. Keep this forevermore! Love, Ananya:)

Text-to-speech goes by a few names. Some refer to it as TTS, read aloud, or even speech synthesis; for the more engineered name. Today, it simply means using artificial intelligence to read words aloud be; it from a PDF, email, docs, or any website. Instantly turn text into audio. Listen in English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, or more and choose your accent and character to personalize your experience.

Beautifully. Speech synthesis works by installing an app like Speechify either on your device or as a browser extension. AI scans the words on the page and reads it out loud, without any lag. You can change the default voice to a custom voice, change accents, languages, and even increase or decrease the speaking rate.

AI has made significant progress in synthesizing voices. It can pick up on formatted text and change tone accordingly. Gone are the days where the voices sounded robotic. Speechify is revolutionizing that.

Once you install the TTS mobile app, you can easily convert text to speech from any website within your browser, read aloud your email, and more. If you install it as a browser extension, you can do just the same on your laptop. The web version is OS agnostic. Mac or Windows, no problem.

TTS, which stands for Text-to-Speech, also known as speech synthesis, is a transformative technology that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to convert written text into remarkably realistic spoken words. TTS systems are crucial for enhancing accessibility, especially for individuals with learning disabilities and visual impairments, by allowing any text to be read aloud.

TTS technology offers many benefits, like helping those with reading difficulties, providing rest for your eyes, multitasking by listening to content, improving pronunciation and language learning, and making content accessible to a wider audience.

Speechify TTS stands out by offering a more natural and human-like voice quality, a wider range of customization options, and user-friendly integration across devices. Plus, our dedication to accessibility means that we ensure a seamless and inclusive experience for all users.

Does anyone know if there is either native functionality in-app or an integration/solution on either the iOS/Android app to have notes be read aloud?

I use Evernote for study mostly and would love to listen back to my notes, almost like a podcast instead of always only reviewing/studying by reading.

Hi. Evernote doesn't have a text reader as such, because there are a good number of independent apps as well as Android and OS features that will do the job. You'll need to search with the OS version of your phone to get a suitable app.

There are time when I have to go back into a page/slide and correct or adjust audio. Sometimes in the most random fashion, I make the change and then click update/save, when I then go to preview the page/slide or preview the scene and then get back to that page, the audio won't play at all. The audio is there. I can see it. I can even edit it if needed but when I try to play it, I can't hear it.

The only fix to this so far is that I have to create a completely new slide/page. Recreate all of the elements on that slide/page. Then add the audio from text to speech to the new page and sometimes that fixes it on the first try.

Thank so much for the reply. I am using the most recent update to Storyline 360. It has happened now on multiple projects and it appears to be a very random problem. I will repair the app and then report back on if that helps.

I'm having this same issue now with one slide. I tried recreating it (it is made from a screen recording, so I copied another slide that worked, then changed the start and end frame in the recording to include the part I wanted), then added audio notes and did text-to-speech and it doesn't play. Never had this happen before. Storyline 360 v3.50.24832.0

I'm still having this same issue. I've updated my software several times and done the app fix suggested. It is a very random issue. Sometimes I have no trouble and other times it won't stop happening. I am using SL360 v3.49.24347.0

I also had this issue. I tried repairing storyline via the above steps in a comment, tried rebuilding the slides a couple of times, and tried adding a space at the end of the text to speech text, but none of these worked for me.
I finally just opened up the audio file to edit the actual audio, and selected a tiny section of silent audio, and deleted that tiny section. See screenshot attached.

Hi Margaret, I still encounter this issue far too often. It's very frustrating. I have tried every possible solution mentioned but nothing seems to work. Eventually, I still encounter the problem on a daily basis.

If that doesn't work, please open a case with our support team here to connect with our support engineers. This will allow us to request for logs from you that will help shed some light on what's happening.

I'm working with Pages Text to Speech, or with the Text2Speech app for OS X (and am willing to update to the Pro version) to read a lengthy play from text to spoken format. That all works fine, but I'm wondering if it's possible to record the spoken version internally on the iMac while it's being read so that I can provide an audio file of the play for people who will be performing it -- so that they can listen to it. I can hold a recorder up to the speaker and record it that way, but I'm wondering if there is some way to record internally while the words are being spoken...maybe through Garage Band or iTunes? Anyone out there have any thoughts?

Thanks much, but I have accomplished it much more easily. In your Pages document, highlight the text you want to speak. Then go to the Pages dropdown menu, go to Services, and the Add to iTunes as a spoken track option will appear. Choose that option and a text to audio file box appears asking you to choose the voice you want and it will save it as a Text to Speech file in your Music folder. You can then go to iTunes and play the recorded file or move the recorded file to another folder to work on it for editing or sending out. it appears as an m4a file. This works for me!

Yes, you could do it via iTunes, and if that works for you great. My solution simply avoids iTunes altogether, and immediately makes the audio file available to the Share menu via a right-click on the icon.

I do have another question, however. If I want to change character voices during the reading, is there any way to pause the iTunes recording to change voices, or will every pause be recorded as a different audio file...that would be WAY too many files. I wonder if the Pro Version of Text2Speech offers a pause...or perhaps Mac's Text Edit -- I'm experimenting right now to see what happens and if I can pause and change voices and continue on with the same recording. Thanks again.

That's what I thought. I wonder if any of the "pro" text to speech programs would offer such an option? Otherwise, I guess I could record entire sections using different voices and then edit them together in my audio editing software -- more of a job, that's for sure, but still possible. Thanks.
