Call for Study Group Facilitators
The IIBA Australia Chapter are on the lookout for Business Analysis Professionals who have one or more IIBA certifications (CBAP, AAC, CBDA), industry experience and have the ability to commit to the time to facilitate our 2023 Study Groups.
The Study Groups are focused on either BABOK, Agile Extension or Business Data Analysis and are held both online and in-person in regions across Australia. If you are experienced in these areas, we invite you to submit your EOI now by completing this form.
The CIP practice exam will give you a good idea of how ready you are for the breadth of the CIP exam and point out any areas in which you're not as strong. AIIM+ Pro offers a training course for every topic on the CIP exam.
Yes, the CIP Study Guide, available to AIIM+ members (in the CIP Study Group in the online community) or in the AIIM+ Pro library, covers 100% of the content on the CIP exam. We do recommend that candidates also have at least five years of experience, as the exam does require some analysis and application, but everything on the exam is covered in the study guide.
Many organizations use study groups, where each person in the group is responsible for a domain, set of topics, or even just a single topic from the exam. Each person leads a review of their assigned topic in a lunch & learn type format. By spreading it around, everyone learns and teaches in turn. The CIP Study Guide, available to AIIM+ members (in the CIP Study Group in online community) or in the AIIM+ Pro library, can be used as your source material.
If you do not pass, we offer a one-time retake fee of US$75. We recommend you retake the exam 30-90 days after your initial attempt. If you do not pass after that one retake attempt, the regular exam price will apply.
The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. Candidates have 120 minutes to complete it. (When scheduling for your exam slot, we recommend you reserve 2.5 hours, to allow for adequate login and setup with ProctorU.)
While the desire to review incorrect answers is understandable, CIP exam questions are considered secure material, and cannot be distributed outside of the testing environment. This policy is meant to ensure the integrity of our exams by preventing content from being circulated.
The CIP complements the CRM very well. The CRM is a very deep dive into records management practices, but it doesn't cover some of the other aspects of information management that are important. CIP addresses records management as one of many information management functions/processes within an organization and helps to provide a broader contextual picture. Many information professionals hold both the CRM and CIP, as well as other certifications.
IGP focuses more on strategy, planning, analysis, and developing and managing a program, while the CIP is more operational and focused on the tools, processes, and tactics required to execute against a strategy. The two certifications are complementary, and many information professionals earn both.
The CIP is valid for 3 years from the date you passed the exam. About 6 months before the end of that cycle we'll send reminders to submit your Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to renew your certification.
To maintain your certification, you must submit 60 contact hours of approved Continuing Education Units (CEUs), over 3 years from the date of your exam or last renewal. You will also need to pay a renewal fee.
CIPs who do not complete the renewal process, either by retaking and passing the exam or by completing the continuing education requirements, will have their CIP status lapse. Lapsed CIPs are not permitted to use the CIP acronym or logo or present themselves as CIPs, and their Accredible badge will reflect a status of Expired.
AIIM worked with industry experts and focus groups to define the body of knowledge necessary for information professionals to be successful in the Intelligent Information Management practice. The CIP exam assesses competency in this body of knowledge.
The CIP exam was designed to demonstrate the expertise and experience one might acquire over a long career in the Intelligent Information Management Industry. Some have passed the exam with little preparation. Others need a little help.
She prepared and cleared her CBAP v3 exam in 2017 and it was quite an experience. The exam was tougher than she anticipated. Even though it took her some time to calm her nerves, her preparation helped her do well.
It looks to be an obvious thing but actually, it is not. Her projects were hectic and she had limited time to study. She heard people saying that it took her 2.5-3 months but owing to her schedule, she targeted 4 months. This target date helps in planning backward and helps in focusing. Without a target date, there is always a risk and most importantly, it works for her.
Join a Study group, or join groups on
linkedin.com. Being in a group, who are aiming for the same goal will always be a motivation factor. There will be constant discussions and churning of information. This will keep you sprinting towards the certification. Find a BA mentor if possible who can groom you for the exam.
Instead of slaughtering the KAs and memorizing, approach BABOK as a cohesive whole. All the KAs are interrelated and the inputs, outputs, tasks, elements, guidelines, techniques are important cogs in the machinery. This is the only way to retain 500+ pages of information.
Bluegrass IIBA Chapter will run the study group for 14 study sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings beginning August 26, 2024. Students should be prepared to spend 2 to 3 hours studying each week, plus the 2.5 hours study session on Monday and Thursday evening. This study group will provide practice tests opportunity for students. ECBA practice tests are at the competency level for new business analysts; while the CCBA/CBAP practice tests are at a competency level for more seasoned business analysts. We ask students to begin studying early so it is a good idea to be registered at least one week prior to the first session. You can get an Early Bird discount if you are registered two weeks prior to the first session. Students will be provided with course material, including an ECBA or CBAP Study Guide.
Please note that this study group is open to everyone internationally. Please understand that this course is taught in American English. Study sessions are at 6:00 p.m. ET. If you are not in the Eastern time zone of North America, you will need to translate this time to your time zone.
This study group is registered with IIBA and qualifies for 35 Professional Development (PD) Hours toward IIBA core certification and 35 Continuing Development Units (CDU) toward retaining your existing IIBA core certification.

As companies increasingly adopt Business Analysis frameworks and practices the demand for knowledgeable practitioners increases.
PM-Partners 5-day certification program provides participants with the required 35 Professional Development Hours for the CBAP Application process. Our course also provides participants with an approach to studying for the CBAP exam.
The course focuses on creating the appropriate mindset required to understand and deal with the situations presented by exam questions, as well as how to critically analyse the practices, tools and techniques required (and expected) of empowered Business Analysts in the global marketplace. Candidates at a CBAP level are encouraged to approach their exams in a similar fashion and prepare strategies for successful attainment of their desired credential.
On day 5 of the course participants will have the opportunity to write a practice exam and receive feedback on their results so that they may continue their studies in areas that are most relevant to their exam preparations.
This course prepares candidates to sit the Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) exam. Participants may, at the end of this program, register to undertake the proctored online examination which consists of:
