hello

I heard that SensorThings API is progressively the standaird which aims to replace SOS protocol ?

so did you plan to integrate SensorThings API in istSOS ?
it would be great if istSOS could talk both the two protocols

what is your position

Dear Maurice,
this topic is on the table, and yes we are thinking to evolve istSOS toward this direction...
My idea is to have one year horizon...

What the community think about this? Anyone interested in this sprint?

Best,
Maxi

I am not a specialist on OGC standards evolutions but I think it would be  a good evolution, since ST seems to be less wordy (protocol is more light)
maybe this could increase performances?

let us know about your development... if we can help to test?

see you
Maurice

Hi everyone,

We have the same reflexions here. Sensor things looks like to be the futur main standard in the domain.
There are already strong API implementation (cf : FROST API), but the big lack of this project is :
- a backoffice for create sensor, create observed properties etc...
- a nice frontend client to map and plot data
...  juste like what ISTSOS do !
We would be interessed to contribute to a reflexion about this topic, and why not contribute to the code.

Hi Thèo,
in fact I have just recorded a month ago that OGC is launching a new Working Group on defining SOS for OGC API, which means converting SOS to Json restful service (what istSOS already do under the hood), so I think t would be strategic to cope with both the standard, implementing a solution that fit with both the shoes..

So far I see STA as a low level rest API, where you can do almost anything but that is not "user friendly", while SOS is more limited but more straightforward.
Logic and data integrity is not really implemented in STA while istSOS uses most of its processing time to validate and guarantee data integrity.

So.. let's start this discussion and share ideas and first prototype here...

Maxi
