Loader is written and compiled for .NET Framework v4.0. You must have it installed to be able to run a loader. This is because current MS Visual Studio can't compile native code for Windows XP and I don't want to install old VS just to make this loader. And .NET Framework is available for Windows XP also. And also it was much easier to write it in C#.
Also now archive contains HelixMod version of a loader. It has patched HelixMod dll inside (d3d9.dll) that loads tmldr.dll (used for tpf files autoload), and this dll loads tmrls.dll (texmod dll). Use it for games that you can't run directly (like Steam games).
If you are a developer and want to learn TexMod, then you can download this archive. It contains unpacked from nspack versions of TexMod and its dlls (one for logging mode and one for package mode, original and unpacked).
Texmod is program that opens up another exe and extracts/replaces textures that are pulled up in the second program while it is running. I'm trying to start the second exe with the parameters: -AlwaysFocus -ControllerOffset=1 -SaveDataId=2. Starting the second exe with shortcuts/.bat that have these parameters in a command line DOES work. However, I would like to do this in conjunction with Texmod.
I'm using Texmod v0.9 b which doesn't support starting an exe with command line parameters. Newer versions, such as the open source reboot known as uMod, does support but it doesn't replace textures as well and crashes often compared to the original version.
Texmod.exe must start the second exe directly. Texmod can't select a shortcut to start the exe. I've tried making Texmod start another exe/.bat that then starts the second desired exe with parameters but this causes Texmod not to function.
Edit: @Toby Speight I'm not sure what you mean by an example of the code I'm having trouble with as I'm just wondering if it's possible to perform the scenario I described. This is where I got the Texmod program from (it's the oldest release texmod.zip - Original TexMod 0.9 beta). I've searched the internet for possible solutions but I've found very few so some of the methods I've tried are:
Edit2: I also stumbled on this page where someone else claims they managed to achieve what sounds like the objective I desire. However, I do not know enough about code to understand it. If someone could look over this to see if it would work or see if they can modify it to fit the arguments that I desire.
Now when you try to run anything called RememberMe.exe, Windows will instead run the RememberMe_copy.exe with specified parameters (and something else but we don't care). This feature is left in Windows for debugging purposes.
Finally, open TexMod, select RememberMe.exe. It will think it's running original file, but instead Windows will silently run another file with another parameters. As there is nothing else in between, TexMod is happy.
I've been wanting to download a program called Texmod, which modifies in-game textures. I've read numerous accounts on other forums that many download links for this program are dangerous and contain trojans or viruses.
Hi, I'm sure one of the experts will answer your question. I just wanted to add that I did download texmod from the official site and MBAM raises a stink every time I run it. I have also read that it does spit out false positives. I would love to know if this has been changed with the new version.
You can zip the file and attach it in a reply and I will submit it for review, or you can put the link for the download within CODE TAGS so that it's not a hyperlink click link and I'll download it and submit it for review.
Also, when you said there was a new version, is this the 1.0 version of texmod (instead of the 0.9b one most links lead to), as I've recently come across a "newer version" of texmod called umod, apparently made by the same people. I have no idea if it's any safer than texmod, though.
Hi LilacLizards, I suppose I didn't dl it from an "official" site. I use Texmod for Bioware games (mostly Mass Effect) and it is available on their social network. I am fairly confident that it's clean, as a lot of modders on the Bioware social forum link directly to it. If it was bad, I'm sure folks would raise a stink about it or it would be removed. You can easily find it by googling Texmod and Bioware together.
As far as "new version," I was referring to the new version of MBAM. I've had the program for years and recently it prompted me to install a new version that looks completely different than the old one.
Admin possible to test this TexMod too which i downloaded from the google code page version is 0.9beta i have not run it however i have unzip it. I have scanned with KIS 14 With latest update result is CLEAN. i have scanned on virustotal and the result is 8/53. I have deleted the file is the file safe? if not will i get infected by it even though i did not run to program and only unzip it? to test it thanks
Hi LilacLizard, I use Norton 360 Premier in conjunction with MBAM and Norton never had a problem with texmod. I can open texmod, but when I try to run any packages MBAM freaks out unless I turn off the real-time monitoring. I've read that MBAM doesn't like the way texmod works to load textures into a game as that type of behavior looks suspicious.
This is just a texmod version of AmaroWaade's 1024x1024 James texture. All the credit goes to him for the texture used. Just posted it here since a lot of people have been asking for it. Download texmod and use the tpf file.
-It doesn't work with certain cyberfaces installed. You need Krizzy's Lebron James cf for it to work because of how the package was created in texmod. I was not able to figure this out earlier because I was using this for personal use and still havent' figured out fully how to share it to others perfectly.
-This is not the usual method for installing a cyberface as it uses 1024x1024 textures which is more detailed than the limited 512x512 textures that the game allows. You need to use a program called texmod.
-R4zor also uploaded this image that provides instructions on how to use this. Follow this but click the little folder icon and choose the tpf file I uploaded for the 1024x1024 Lebron James CF: [R4zor's link again :D] Check out his excellent mods too.
