One of the new games i Caylus, a new French game that is rated very
highly on boardgames.com.
The other three are very old Avalon Hill games from the heyday of
American gaming. These games are of a distinctly different style from
the games we have been playing. I am sure most people won't like them
but I think Adnan will love them.
1. Dune - Don't know much about this game except that it's the game
based on the movie and book, Dune. It's supposed to be very good. My
uncles 3rd favorite game. He actually had two copies of this rare bird.
2. Pax Britanica - My uncles second favorite game after Diplomacy of
course. This games simulates the colonial era of Britain and is a true
empire building and conquest game. It's long and complicated. Thinking
of Adnan's desire to kill people, I asked him if there was a lot of
fighting in the game: There is lots of fighting and lots of
negotiating, was his response.
3. Rail Barron - The original train game that started them all (I
think). Supposed to be more complicated than any of the others we
have played before.
The reason these old style games aren't around anymore is because for
the most part they are long and complicated. They also are visually
rather simplistic. I like them though. I am still going to try and
find a copy of Titan and of Advanced Civilization before I come back.
I had two different copies of civilization in my hands during this
vacation but cannot find the advanced expansion.
