Barbaric Sexual Assault In Vrindavan

On February 24, 2015

At 7 AM, in broad daylight, 82-year-old Chandrika Devi Dasi was raped and robbed at Kesi-ghat, Vrindavan.

Chandrika is from Russia. She is a saintly vaisnavi and has come to Vrindavan to pass the final years of her life.

In her advanced age has performed Vrindavan Parikrama everyday for the past five years.

On February 24th, as she passed through Kesi-ghat, two Indian men, approximately 20 years of age, approached from behind and pushed her to the ground.

One of the men stole her parikrama bag and ran away.

The other man climbed upon her chest and held her mouth to keep her from screaming, pulled his genital from his cloth and while sitting upon her to keep her from moving, masturbated and passed semen on her chest.

After his climax he jumped up to run away and a large knife fell from his cloth. He quickly grabbed the weapon and ran.

By Krishna’s blessings Chandrika Devi Dasi broke no bones when she fell. She is shocked and traumatised by the event.

Though there were pujaris at the Kesi-ghat temple but they did nothing to help.

From her shock, and feeling of shame, she did not report the event to the police on the day that it happened. On the second day when I was informed I instructed her to file a First Information Report with the local police.

She did so on February 25, 2015

I reported the incident to our Vrindavan Temple President he sent his legal assistant to deal with the local police. By Krishna's grace the criminals were captured within two days and legal proceedings have been opened against them.

But, as events go in India, unless noise is made, they will simply pay a bribe and be released.

I personally feel they should be hung to death.

What if someone tried to rape your 82 year old mother. What would you do ?

I request that more be done by the authorities of ISKCON in India for the security of all of our members, especially for our women.

Since Srila Prabhupada brought ISKCON to Vrindavan the population has benefitted immeasurably.

Everyone;

the rickshaw puller, construction workers, the millionaire merchants in the market, to the multi-millionaire government officials of Mathura District, have all attained prosperity by the presence of the foreign ISKCON vaisnavas.

Thus, I humbly request all of my friends on Facebook to contact your ISKCON authorities and express your concern over the rape of this elderly woman.

Please request their good assistance, and the good assistance of the authorities of the the Indian GBC Body, and the ISKCON Indian Action Committee to appeal to all levels of the Indian government to:

1. Do whatever is necessary to increase the “all round security of pilgrims to Sri Vraja Bhumi.”

2. Insure a visible presence of literate policemen on the streets, markets, parikrama, and temples in Vrindavan ... one of the most well traversed pilgrimage spots in India.

3. The government should establish a “Crisis Center” for pilgrims who have experienced theft, abuse, or rape in the Holy Dham of Vrindavan.

4. It should become a mandate of the Government of India to clean the filth, corruption, and perversion that have become prevalent in the holiest site of pilgrimage in India, Sri Vrindavan Dham.

Though it has been many days since this attack I am still shocked by this barbaric atrocity.

Thus , I humbly request all of you to assist. Your voice is important.

Request your GBC to make this their number one agenda item and deal with this situation as soon as possible.

We should use every legitimate lawful device to request the Indian government for more security in Vrindavan.

Before more of our female members are attacked, raped, groped, and molested, and robbed in Sri Vrindavan Dhama.

Hare Krishna. A lot of the responsibility for gross violence against women and others in Vaisvana holy places, falls on the ISKCON GBC and the false gurus they promote. Since man years, prostitution was practiced in the ISKCON temple at Juhu beach Bombay. One woman was found dead in a water tank there. Some Russian lady devotees were arrested for prostitution in Vrndavana. Thy said that their guru authorized this service!! Drugs and sex are readily available in Mayapur. Kirtanananda dasa used to pimp lady devotees at truck stops for money and called it sankirtan!!

I heard the explanation that Indian men now have access to hard core pornography, via the Internet, for the first time in history. Because they are not used to seeing such filth, they cannot handle it!

Even in 1974, Srila Prabhupada warned Yamuna prabhu to be careful about coming alone in the morning when Srila Prabhupada heard her chanting japa underneath His window, so even at that time, there were some bad elements...

Though certain Western devotees going to or living in the Dhama - male or female - set a good example in accordance with the criteria given by Srila Prabhpada as to how His disciples should behave in the Dhama, many devotees have NOT!!! set a good example, starting from some of the "big" shots going down, and in fact, an ABMOMINABLE example, (which includes some of the Western devotee women PROSTITUTING themselves in Vrndavana, Western devotees involved with drugs/drinking, and...) 

I'm sure if ISKCON leaders had made sure to follow themselves and see that devotees followed Srila Prabhupada's instructions on all levels, including how we should behave while visiting and/or living in the Dhama, if Indian people, including those residing in the Dhamas, knew that devotees lived in accordance with the Vaisnava principles, there would be a lot less of these kinds of abominations going on. 

For years there has been and still is a (Western devotee) prostitute ring in Vrndavan, as well as the drug taking (and alcohol drinking) on the part of Western devotees. (Great example for the Indians to see. One wonders if the devotees doing these things give a damn that our own failings in this regards brings not only a MISrepresentation on all levels in regards to what Srila Prabhupada taught us, but causes other devotees who are PROPERLY!!! practicing to have to go through the suffering they do in regards to undergoing these kinds of repercussions due to the DEVIATIONS of other people who are NOT following.) 

If little guys like us know about the Western prostitute and "other" rings, then surely at least some of the GBC people know.

                 This certainly deplorable.  However , we should always remember Prabhupada's reiteration of the Vedic instruction that women should always be protected by father , husband or son.  If these male personalities do not provide protection , then that  is their fault.  If a woman rejects (or neglects to accept) that protection then the fault lies with her.  Actually , in view of the prevalence of women independence mentality these days , it's surprising that this type of thing isn't happening more. Perhaps it is but just unreported.  Tat te nukampam susasiksamano

All I can say is that everyone needs to be very circumspect in searching out sincere benefactors.  All of us still have some residual sinful desires. Some worse than others. Then , there are true disciples of Kali in our midst.  We all must pray to Lord Chaitanya to protect us from the phonies and give us good intelligence in recognizing the actual reality of any situation. Krishna can empower any sincere person to give protection in any circumstance. Sincerity means genuine cooperation with the will of the Lord.

Point of information: These attacks have little to nothing to do with porno, western bodies or not, the GBC, etc. Since first coming to India in 1970, we were introduced to perverted behavior which we innocently thought was only aimed at us due to being in western bodies. We came to know that the same nasty behavior was also plied against Indian bodied ladies.  Western bodies just added a new element to their lust and we were easy targets due to our nairvity.  Age is of no consequence. What was sent to me, I sent on to give caution to all devotees, male as well as female, to be careful, not to go to isolated places by themselves, because male devotees can also get (and have gotten) physically attacked.

And yes, there are a lot of things that happen which don't get reported.

Actually, in my worthless opinion, the fault lies 100% with the most demonic Government [and that includes the present one!] and the very people of India, nationally and locally!  For ALL Hindus, Mayavadis or Vaisnavas, the Bhagavat Gita is accepted as their "Bible", their holiest of books, and Vrndavan is the birthplace of Lord Krsna, the very speaker of the Bhagavat Gita,  thus placing Vrndavan at the very top of India's countless holy places of pilgrimage.  

Take a look around the world, at all the other Religions major holy sites, Muslim's, Christian's, Jew's, all their prominent places of "spiritual" pilgrimages are meticulously maintained and funded, and that includes security for the all the residents and pilgrims.  

Personally I have not been to Vrndavan/India since 1986; however, even back then it was a National disgrace, a filthy [no sewage system] and totally neglected, run-down place. And from what I hear, it has only gotten much worse.  I remember Radhapati dasa telling me in the early 90's that Vrndavan already back then had slaughter houses, houses of prostitution, and even crack-cocaine was easily available. 

And even if the Indian Government is too demonic to do the right thing,  India now has numerous individuals who can be counted as being among some of the worlds richest man, and if there was even one amongst them with any piety, Vrndavan would be India's "Crown Jewel".        pg

The Western news reports are that there is currently a "rape epidemic" going on in India, so, according to them, you can't say that it was like this before the Internet. Try doing a Google search for "rape epidemic in India" (without the quotes).

The article that I was specifically referring to says the following:
