It is insane how violent human beings have been toward one another throughout history.  The Holocaust was only one of countless genocides.  And the violence has not changed despite the evolution of technology, culture, religion, language, and government.  I think it has just changed form, and become more complex and subtle (but not always.  I have friends from Ukraine, and it is very bad over there).  It all comes down to the human tendencies towards greed, pride, selfishness, deceitfulness, and lust, which are the glaring evidence of our unenlightened states of material consciousness.  Lord Jesus Christ said, Turn the other cheek.....but, how many of His followers actually possess such saintly character?  Everywhere one looks, there is quarrel and hypocrisy.  It is like an infection which we all carry, simply by being here in this temporary world of birth and death.  It is a very rare Soul that comes to this world that is not afflicted with this disease (and often such a Great Soul is martyred  by those who have envy, for His Purity).

I am reflecting on these things, and discussing with my husband how we can make a change from this historic overwhelming propensity, starting with our own family, which is the nuclear unit of human society.  He has children and a former marriage, I have children and a former marriage, and having attained the wisdom that comes with age, experience, and the inevitable change of Time, we wish to dedicate the rest of our lives to making the world a better place for ourselves, each other, and most importantly, them.  Raya Ramananda, Jyotir Gamaya, Nila, Bala, Sarah, Katie's children and Jay's children (who I don't know personally but would like to, someday), and so many ither new sweet souls, are the next generation, and they are learning from us how to be, what to think, and how to live, with every word, thought, and deed that we, their parents/custodians, express and thus instill into their psyches (the effect of which can be lifelong).  

So, at this late stage, I propose an ascendance to Love, Trust, Peace and Cooperation within all parts of my family - Cagles, Zakheims, Reitmans, Marks, and every other family - with an agreement to offer genuine respect, kindness, and goodwill toward everyone in it - despite our cultural differences, and the horror, hardship, violence and pain of the past.  We have all made mistakes and acted like animals due to fear and trauma, rather than angels, which is our true spiritual nature as immortal Soul.  So, let's choose to now embrace our actual eternal dharma (spiritual duty), and be the true selfless servants of God/Krishna/Lord Jesus Christ/Mother Mary, and set the example of unconditional kindness, truthfulness, mercy, compassion, understanding, and forgiveness.  Let's forgive ourselves for our own understandable actions.  Let's forgive each other for theirs.  And the Big One - let's forgive our parents, who were not perfect, but did their level best to give us life, education, good guidance, and a better life than what they had to experience when they too were innocent and defenseless against the onslaught of this world where we are all basically in a fight for survival.  Does it really have to be this way?  

So, at this late stage, I propose, let's start over, and apply the wisdom of the tough lessons we have each been forced to learn in this, what our Spiritual Master, Srila Prabhupada describes as "the hard struggle for existence".

And, I ask for your forgiveness for my own participation in this fight for justice.  I have gone about things entirely the wrong way, having been profoundly traumatized and then completely misguided from a very early age.  I was raised in a materialistic (demonic) culture that glamorized obscene wealth, rivalry, social status, vanity, promiscuity, pornography, atheism, intoxication, narcissism, cruelty, and greed.  I was totally victimized by these qualities, which gradually saturated my heart and mind as I grew up in Los Angeles, California, the land of fallen angels, and appropriately suffered the consequences.   I am now working to rid myself of any trace of these, in the cherished association of my new husband, and propose that we all work together from now on to protect our children from these Godless influences, to preserve their purity, good-heartedness, positive outlook, and belief in themselves and their own unlimited potential to actually make the world a better place - simply by their own example - word, thought, deed.

This is the greatest gift that we can give our children, who are innocent, beautiful, and precious gifts to this world from God, to the world itself, which is in profound need of change.  

Let's make waves, with the precious time we have left.
