Narayana Maharaja was specifically ordered not to initiate anyone?

Narayana Maharaja told Yasodananada in 1978 that his guru, Keshava
maharaja, had ordered him not to initiate anyone. Narayana Maharaja
told the same thing to Rupa vilas in 1978 as well. Then, BV Puri and
other members of the Gaudiya Matha later asked Narayana Maharaja why
he was initiating people since he was specifically ordered, not to
initiate anyone. NM walked away and did not answer.

Yup. Radha Govinda Swami also just got up and walked away. He said to me that being conversant in all systems of philosophy before sitting on the vyasasana had "nothing" to do with bhakti.

Then when I showed him the purport to text 7 of the first Canto chapter 1 of  the S.B, he just got up and walked away.

Well known (story).
After Keseva died, Narayan went with another guru ?; who also told him not to initiate; after being repeatedly asked permission from Narayan, he finally relented, and told Narayan that he was now allowed to initiate only in one provence: Gurjurat?; upon being given that permission, Narayan simply began initiating anyone anywhere.
this is well known.

Narayan's guru, Keseva, never made him a guru, at all. Narayan even left his guru to go live at Radha Kund, for a few years, where he picked up his gopi rasa teachings, which he has taught to so many ex-Iskcon Prabhupad disciples. Keseva went to Radha Kund, and promised Narayan many positions to entice Narayan to come back to Keseva's math. When Keseva departed, he left Vamana Maharaja in charge of the math. He also did not make Narayan a guru; but, years later, after Narayan kept asking, Vamana finally agreed to let Narayan initiate in just one Indian provence; whereupon Narayan started initiating anyone anywhere.
A big 'break' for him, was Prabhupad asking him to put His body in samadhi.

He also had a role in organized a boycott of Srila Prabhupada's first Mayapur festival in 1972.
I heard what BV Puri Maharaja was said about that. Do you know something more about that incident?

I HEARD THAT NM HAD GONE TO RADHA KUNDA TO A PARTICULAR RASCAL RASIKA BABJI, AND WANTED TO TAKE RASIKA INITIATION FROM HIM. KESHAVA M. WENT THERE IN PERSON AND DRAGGED NM BACK TO THE MATHA PHYSICALLY, AND MADE HIM PROMISE THAT HE WOULD NEVER GO FOR RASIKA INITIATION AT RADHAKUNDA AGAIN.

AS SOON AS KESHAVA DEPARTED FALL OF 1968, NM RUSHED BACK TO RADHAKUNDA AND TOOK RASIKA INITIATION FROM THE SAME BABJI.

I DOUBT THAT KESHAVA WAS IN A POSITION TO OFFER "POSITIONS" TO NM, AS KESHEVA'S MATHA WAS DESPERATELY POOR, WITH ONLY A HANDFUL OF DISCIPLES, AND NO GHEE EVEN FOR THE DEITIES.

UNTIL SP ENTERERD SAMADHI, NM WAS ALSO DESPERATELY POOR, WITH A FEW LAZY BRAHMACHARIS WHO SLEPT ALL DAY AND THEN WENT OUT TO BEG RICE TO EAT. (PATITA PAVANA VISITED HIM IN THOSE DAYS, AND DESCRIBED HIS ASHRAM AS FILTHY, THE DEITIES TOTALLY NEGLECTED, AND THE BRAHMACARIS USELESS.

BV PURI M DESCRIBES THE BOYCOTT IN SIDDHANTA'S MEMORIES VIDEO #26.

DECADES BEFORE PURI MAHARAJA MADE THAT INTERVIEW TAPE, I WAS DESCRIBING THE BOYCOTT IN 1972 FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT I WAS THERE. I MADE A  LARGE BILLBOARD DESCRIBING THE NEW TEMPLE TO BE BUILT, AND THEN ADDED THE TERM "PRABHUPADA" TO SP'S TITLE.

THIS CAUGHT THE EYE OF THE GAUDIYA MATH, AND THEN NM ORGANIZED THE BOYCOTT.WHICH INCLUDED AROUND FIFTY GM DEVOTEES INCLUDING SRIDHAR MAHARAJA.

THE REASON FOR THE BOYCOTT WAS BASED ON THE GM MAKING A SOLEMN VOW AMONG THEMSELVES TO NEVER PERSONALLY USE THE TERM "PRABHUPADA:" AND TO RESERVE THAT EXCLUSIVELY FOR SRILA BHAKTISIDDHANTA SWAMI PRABHUPADA

IT IS A FACT THAT THEY TOOK THAT WHEN SP WAS FAR AWAY, AND IN NO ONE'S EYE, WOULD HE BECOME A GURU EVER.

SP HAD NOT TAKEN THAT VOW, AND IT APPEARS THAT SRILA BHAKTISIDDANTA SWAMI WISHED HIM TO USE IT AS HE ALLOWED US TO REFER TO HIM AS "PRABHUPADA" IN EARLY 19069, IN THE LA CIENEGA TEMPLE IN LA.

I ACTUALLY ORGANIZED THE FIRST MAYAPUR FESTIVAL, AND MADE ALL ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE FESTIVAL, WORKING WITH ACHYUTANANDA DAS.

HE DID NOT STAY THERE UNTIL THE DEATH OF KESHAVA MAHARAJA.  AFTER THE DISAPPEARANCE OF KM, HE WENT BACK TO RADHA KUNDA FOR RASIKA. INITIATION FROM THE BABAJI. (YOU CAN CHECK WITH NARASINGHA MAHARAJA)

TWO YEARS AFTER TAKING SANYAS, NM WAS CAUGHT COMING OUT OF HIS FORMER WIFE'S HOUSE, OBVIOUSLY HAVING HAD SEX WITH HER.
