Why Did Dwarka Sink?
Queen Gandhari's curse on Lord Krishna.
When the Battle of Kurukshetra was at a near end, Queen Gandhari came to the battle field devastated that her 99 sons (except Duryodhan) were killed by Bheem. When Lord Krishna went to offer his condolences, Gandhari in asked Lord Krishna why he did not end the war before her sons were killed? ... since it was within his power to do so.
While it may have been King Dhritarastra's fate to be born blind and have his 100 sons killed in this life time, it was not the karma of Gandhari. Gandhari did nothing in her past lives nor in her current life to merit such a tragedy. In her rage, Gandhari cursed Krishna. Understandably, she wanted Krisna to feel the same pain she felt. Thus, Krishna saw his entire Yadava clan, die in front of his eyes and his kingdom burnt to ashes. He and his brother were left with no lineage to rule. All of Krishna's sons died in a massive fight in Dwaraka.
Then, Krishna fled to the forest without any weapons. There in the forest, unarmed, he was killed by a hunter and later, the entire city of Dwaraka sank into the sea along with many devotees. The remaining Yadavas, who survived the war were in chaos and misery. Lord Krishna, had the power to nullify the curse, but instead, accepted it.
So the question is, why did Krisna not stop the Battle of Kurushetra before the blood shed? And why would he flee Dwarka, abandoning all of his disciples, when he knew it would sink? And why would Srila Prabhupada give an incomplete teaching, on karma, when this example clearly illustrates the opposite of what it says in most of his purports? Those are the questions I am posing to anyone who may have an answer.
