“Be sure to keep everything neat,” It was funny how such a frail looking woman could make a set of instructions sound like a threat, but Nerys’s words conveyed her meaning to the Harper without having to give a look or raise her voice. “Of course Weyrwoman” Avarin replied having to hold himself back from knocking over the inkwell before him onto Nerys's precious books, his gaze drilling holes through  the woman’s back side as she worked upon something at her desk. Perhaps she forced him to remain in her private records room with her just to enjoy tormenting a captive audience, or was it a control thing? Either way he disliked his monthly task of updating the books. This month's notes were more sorrowful than others. One of their rider's siblings had managed to impress just for her dragon to pass between due to illness leaving a gloomy haze over the weyr, and the young girl in a coma. He had heard it many times before from Nerys that this sickness the dragon had contracted was the very plague they all feared, that it had years of time to stew and finally infect dragon kind which had been immune during the last outbreak.

Some would say it was sheer rubbish and that this was just another result of the unhealthy state of the dragons gene pool. Rolling the extra piece of parchment he had used to notate his own feelings Avarin quickly slipped it out of sight of the woman who remain motionless just a length away from him. Tucking the parchment out of sight he cleared his throat as not to startle the woman.

"Weyrwoman I have finished the records, they just need to finish drying but they are done and to the letter," Avarin said as he rose Nerys's piercing gaze falling upon him.

"Done to the letter?" Nerys's voice intoned as she had turn to regard the man her hands lifted to allow her fingers to steep her gaze still upon him. They had gone through this many times before, and Avarin sighed.

"Of course, Weyrwoman. I have left them out for your scrutiny,"

"I'm not over there of course,"

“Of course not Weyrwoman, allow me,” Avarin said managing to flourish a small bow before hastily gathering up the precious book and bringing to set along the woman’s desk, taking care not to knock over the goblet of wine set before her. “If anything needs to be corrected please don’t hesitate to..”

“As always Harper,” Nerys said cutting off the last of the man’s words, “leave me to read.”  Her hand waved dismally as she drew the books closer to herself.

Ankhsorangth’s rider is in the bowl, his rider is depressed still. Issashanth relayed to her rider, as the Queen continued to stare off into her domain with a smug feeling.

Leave him to grieve Nerys instructed her eyes rolling. She wanted to say the dragon deserved what it got for impressing upon a female; however, she could never bring herself to speak the words out loud. The dragon was young and foolish like the girl that had let her impression upon her. The green’s death was just a tragedy that could not be accounted for or appropriately blamed on anyone or anything beyond the plague. “My love would you find V’tor for me,” Nerys said her eyebrows lifting at Harper’s word choice.

Of Course Issashanth replied immediately calling out toward her mate.

By the time Avarin had reached the lower caverns his mood had turned sour. While he was not allowed to become involved more and more the Harper found himself wanting to give away just a few of that nasty woman’s secrets to the right person. Moving toward one of the hearths Avarin checked the kettle for its contents before retrieving a glass and pouring a fresh cup of Klah. He was lucky someone had been attentive to the hearth today. Taking seat at one of the rocking chairs set in one of the far corners of the dining cavern Avarin rested for a moment savoring the fresh cup of klah in his hand, as he rocked gently back and forth. He found himself dosing off as several lower cavern works began to ready the hall for the upcoming evening meal.
