"Have you ever been to the Weyr before?"

Arleen strained to hear the Searchrider's words over the howl of the
wind as the blue dragon began to circle down toward the dusty bowl of
Ista Weyr. Turning amber brown eyes to him, she nodded.

"Yes sir! My brother rides brown Gixurath!" she shouted back. She felt
a little out of line, to be shouting at a dragonrider. However, how in
the world would the man hear her otherwise?

"Really?! Good man, L'lan. Will he be thrilled to see you?"

Arleen paused to think on that. Would L'lan be pleased to see her? It
had been so long since she had seen him last, leading wet and clumsy
Gixurath to feed. He had been so happy that day and with a dragon of
his own, why would he stop to think of his siblings.

'Much less the gangly one.' she thought.

"Maybe, I'm not sure!" she responded.

D'aust nodded, his green eyes meeting hers. She was a pretty girl,
well as far as he was concerned. His tastes really didn't run toward
woman, in fact the last woman he had slept with was the last flight
Fexath had won. D'aust like men.

"Well here we are, Candidate Arleen." the Searchrider said. Fexath
raised his arm and, with D'austs help, Arleen made it to the dusty
bowl floor.

"Thank you, Searchrider D'aust." she said, smiling at him and the to
the large blue dragon at his side. Fexath was so beautiful, the pale
and delicate shade of blue lace agate and he was so big!

"And thanks to you, blue Fexath." she said with a grin. Clutching her
search token in her hand, Arleen waited for D'aust to join her. He had
promised to take her to the Candidate Master.

Even as the warmth of the day continued to beat down upon her, Faelon continued her lazy sunbathing a grin playing across her features. With the hatching a short time away she had been allowed to shirk in her duties, something the girl rare was allowed to do, and was currently taking advantage of as she laid stretched out upon one of the smooth rocks that the dragons had worn down with time. This would be her last hatching no matter what, if her lifemate didn't shell this hatchign she was going to find anyway possible to escape this dread place. Something she was reminded of as she looked at her own pale skin.

She couldn't remember the last time she had the opportunity to attempt to tan, while most women were proud of the milky white skin she on the other hand loved to have golden brown skin. It always made her feel more comfortable about herself. Allowing her arm to flop over her eyes Faelon listened to the distant sound of the ocean a soft sigh escaping her. So this was what it was like to be Nerys as she sat on her ledge all day, the girl mused to herself as a breeze picked up.

However, quickly the sound of dragon wings hearlded the arrival of a dragon rather than the wind. Lifting her arm Faelon sat up to gaze at the arrival. It was D'aust, his blue's hide shining in the difference, and another girl? A frown centered itself across Faelon's face for a brief moment. Didn't they have enough female candidates? It wasn't the girl's fault though, and the blue made no sign of escorting her in. Slipping to her feet Faelon strode toward the pair a smile returning to her features. "Hi, welcome" Faelon said as she approached the girl her head tilting a bit as she seemed familar. Perhaps she had a sibling in the weyr, but she couldn't place it. "Are you to be a candidate?"

D'aust nodded to the other girl; Arleen would have someone to show her
around and maybe he could get another pass over the cotholds near Ista
Hold. They needed more boys for Faranth's sake. There was only so many
girls you could place on the grounds, even with a queen egg.

{{She is meant for Impression.}} was Fexath's reply.

Arleen turned her head toward the other girl, the wind picking up and
tossing her black hair.

"Yes, I was justed Searched. I'm Arleen." and she extended a hand to
the other girl.

"If it isn't too much to ask, could you show me around?" she added,
bright amber brown eyes looking at Faelon.

"Of course, I've been here 8 turns now," Faelon said making a bit of a face
as she gave D'aust one last look and then his fine Blue before returning her
focus on the other girl. "Did you bring any bags? What hold do you hail
from?" Faelon inquired secretly longing that perhaps the girl had come from
Keroon or at least had some ties to her home. She was pretty sure the girl
wasn't and that her hopes were just idle day dreams. She would of heard
rumor by now that the Search Riders had been given permission to search the
mainland for candidates.

"We'll get your stuff settled, before I show you around. The Candidate
Master's been dispatched by the Weyrwoman this morning," Faelon said a
slight grin on her face. That was one reason she had been left alone long
enough to tan in the afternoon sun.
