A huge THANK YOU to each and everyone of our Friends of the Issaquah Library book sale volunteers! Our proceeds were over $4,300. Not too shabby for a one-day sale.
Book sale setup was well orchestrated by Martha Pinsky, and we put finishing touches on the scene by 1pm on Friday. Saturday morning was a real rush. A crowd gathered at the library front doors and rolled into the sale room like a tidal wave. Cashiers did a fabulous job of moving shoppers through the line – especially in the first two hours of the sale. ‘Crazy busy’ is the term I would use.
To encourage lots of shopping, our book wranglers passed out paper bags (thank you, Trader Joe’s!). I estimate that we sold about 2500 items. With our volunteers’ gracious customer service, we received lots of cash donations as well. Clean up was rapid and a real work out; we really could have used more volunteers between 6-7pm. Suffice to say that everyone was tired at the end of the evening.
Sale remainders will go to Thrift Books, our favorite book reseller, and we’ll receive proceeds from online sales.
Thank you so much for volunteering your time, muscles and talents to FOIL. And, thanks for volunteering!
