Subject: Welcoming Week on 9/8
Hi All,
Just to follow up on this program, the City is looking for more volunteers to help with our large Welcoming Week event on Friday, 9/8, from 5pm to 8pm at on the Community Center lawn. There will be an African fashion show, world music, dance, food trucks, a resource fair, and family art activities. FOIL will be sponsoring the teen emcee, 14-year-old Taanvi Arekapudi, author of Uplift Teens Today: Coping Strategies for Mental Health, and artist Ekta Gupta, who will be leading a community art project on site and teaching a Warli art craft. There is also a Story Stroll, where people can follow the pages of a book throughout the downtown area. It's called Cheer: A Book to Celebrate Community.
I'm attaching the volunteer applications. The minimum age is 12, so there are both youth and adult applications. The link to sign up for spots is here:
If you could spread the word, that would be fantastic!
