Dear colleagues,

A quick reminder that abstract submissions are now open for the 29th Annual Science and Technology Indicators Conference (STI-ENID 2025), taking place in Bristol, UK, 3-5 September 2025. This year’s theme — "Reconciliation in Research and its Measurement" — invites us to confront some of the most pressing challenges in our field and imagine new ways of working together.
We’ll explore how we reconcile deep divides — between inclusion and exclusion in research careers, between old and new methodologies, and between long-standing communities like ours and the fast-growing metascience movement. We’ll ask: How do we make research assessment more just, more meaningful, and more responsive to diverse contributions? And how do we build bridges instead of walls — both methodologically and socially — to improve research, its measurement and its impact?
And there’s no better place for this conversation than Bristol. A city known for its history of protest and reinvention, Bristol has long been a place where big ideas and bold conversations thrive. It’s a city that has grappled with its past and continues to redefine its future — making it the perfect backdrop for a conference about reconciliation. Whether you spend your downtime wandering through its vibrant street art (including some original Banksys), walking its iconic suspension bridge, or soaking up its thriving cultural scene, Bristol will inspire you.
We also have a packed social programme planned — including opportunities to connect, collaborate, and genuinely shape the future of our field. This is not just a conference — it’s a space to repair old divisions, build new relationships, and co-create a more expansive, inclusive future for research and its measurement.
👉 Submit your abstract now: https://www.stienid2025.org/submissions
👉 Deadline: 4th April, 2025
We’d love to see your work represented and to have you in Bristol with us.
Let’s use this opportunity to build a stronger, fairer, and more connected research community — and have a bit of fun while we’re at it.
Best wishes,
Gemma, Jackie & Neil
On behalf of the STI-ENID 2025 Organising Committee
P.S. Don’t miss the chance to explore Bristol’s world-famous street art, enjoy a drink at its harbourside, or join our Bristol Banksy Hunt during the conference. It’s going to be a conference to remember — we hope you’ll be part of it!
