Background information: need for a bibliometric reporting guideline

Despite the growth of bibliometric analyses in peer-reviewed literature, there exist few articles providing guidance on the reporting of bibliometric analyses, all of which are primarily opinion-based. Evidence-informed guidelines for the reporting of bibliometric analyses have not yet been developed, hence the purpose of the present study. Adoption of a reporting framework for bibliometric analyses will promote transparency in author reporting of studies and assist readers, peer reviewers, and editors in critically assessing the quality of bibliometrics methods used.

Should you have any questions or concerns about our invitation, please do not hesitate to reach out to our principal investigator Jeremy Y. Ng at je...@ohri.ca or Stefanie Haustein at stefanie...@uottawa.ca.

Kind regards,

Stefanie Haustein on behalf of the GLOBAL Team
