Forty three years after beginning training at the grand opening of Soke's Parsippany dojo I still feel very much connected to the art and those I studied and socialized with. It was a great period
in my life. I am still benefitting from my studies. I celebrated my 71st birthday a few days ago and credit my training as a younger man and my less intensive training to this day for my good health.
My bride, Roseann, and I spent a few days with Howard Haag and his wife at there beautiful farm in northern NY state near the border over the 4th of July weekend. It was great fun sharing katas, old war stories and some cold brews. He and Fred Chaffe introduced me to ISR and Mr. Murphy, for which I am do grateful.
I see this isn't a very active group, but I am glad to be back "in the loop". I look forward to catching up and having contact with all of you. I have little more than a DVD Bob Cusomano sent me of our system katas, my "yellow sheets" and a fading memory to keep my motivated. I did teach a program of self defense to a group of Young Marines at my Marine Corps League detachment which was fun for me and the boys age 10-16. I am still riding a motorcycles and rescuing animals.
Happy 2014 to everyone!
Jim Stedman
