I just found something interesting when searching for Isshin Shorinji Ryu on Google:

That's a really long URL that will take you to a 1975 issue of the Brown University Alumni Monthly. Download it and search for "Polly" or "Isshin," and you'll find a nice profile about Polly Seifert that goes into her love of karate and equestrian sports.

I just got lucky— Google found it. Note the Society of Black Belts of America patch in the photo— pretty neat!

I emailed the Brown University Alumni Association and the New Jersey Horse Shows Association to see if they have contact information…. I'll let you know if I hear anything!
