Hello, I sent a bug report through the AppStore but I got no answer,
so I'm trying to post it here.

For instance, typing a "A" on the iPhone or iPad keyboard produces a
"Q" on my Mac. In addition to making it difficult to type, even though
I could manage to type "Q" instead of "A" or "W" instead of "Z" every
time, other characters offer no workaround : if the remote Mac is
password-locked, there may be no way to unlock it. Entering the
password is impossible if it contains certain numbers such as "8" that
produces "!". In this example, no other key on the keyboard seems to
produce a "8". Switching on the iPhone or iPad to an English layout
doesn't help. (For your information, iTeleport / Jaadu VNC has the
same problems, as can be seen in the comments on the French App
Store.)

I've also bought Mocha VNC and it does not exhibit this problem thanks
to a "Mac OS X Keyboard" setting that specifies the active keyboard
driver on each connection and that can be set to "US", "Danish",
"French (AZERTY)", "German", "Spanish iso" and "Canadian French".
However, Mocha VNC does not support SSH tunnels for VNC connections,
so I can only use it on my local network since security matters to me.

Therefore, considering iSSH is sold in international App Stores, I
hope you can consider fixing this problem for non-US customers have
the SSH VNC feature work with non-QWERTY keyboard settings on remote
Macs. Thanks by advance !

Apparently another user seems to have the same problem with the german
keyboard layout (which I think is QZERTY).

It seems that more recent messages got answers while mine didn't.
Would it be possible to get an answer ?

This is actually something that's strangely related to the VNC
server. VNC servers that support host keyboard will not have this
problem. If you give RealVNC a shot, which does support keyboard
localization, you will find that no options need to be changed on
iSSH's side.

That being said, I like how Mocha VNC does the keyboards and I'll see
about implementing something similar.

Thank you for your answer. However I dropped the idea of trying to
install a different VNC server, since the VNC server I'm using is the
standard one installed by default on Mac OS X. Also, I found that a
strangely quite unknown remote access program, Remote HD, that has no
problems with the french keyboard and the standard Mac OS X VNC
server, just like Mocha VNC, so I guess pointing towards the VNC
server would not be the unique possible answer. Regards.

So, you mail him five times in one day in the effort of getting a response and when he replies the same day you wait over two weeks to respond?

Wow.

Now that we're past the iOS 4.0 changes I'm focusing on the VNC server
again, which includes improving the keyboard support. The next
version will have this resolved.

Also, on an unrelated not I'm actually this moment working on ssh-
agent functionality in iSSH.

It was the time for me to evaluate other options before implementing a
workaround on my system (second VNC server on Mac OS X).
I was simply trying to document whether it was a bug on my side or a
missing feature and I think I was polite enough to say hello and
thanks...
unlike your message whose I fail to see how it can contribute this
thread.

Thank you for the information Dean, when an update is shipped, let me
know if you need me to test it for you.
Best regards
