select multiple items in finder

Greetings,
Love the app, very useful, but there's one thing I can't figure out
how to do. Using VNC to connect to OS X 10.6 (running vine server)
and I can't figure out how to select multiple items in finder. How is
that done?

Command is toggled in the auxiliary key widget. With that toggled any
taps should select an item without deselecting others.
