I upgraded to the newest version a day or two ago, and now the X
server no longer launches. I hit the x after connecting with SSH, then
the X windows button and the app hangs. Nothing happens, I have to
exit and startup a few more times to start a new SSH session. So, no
X. Bummed. -bjl

Mind sending a few screenshots of what you're experiencing? I haven't
heard any other reports of the X server being unavailable.

You'll have to pardon my density, but I don't know how to screen
capture. Got a quick how-to? -bjl

Pressing the power and home buttons at the same time should take a
screenshot of whatever app you're in and add it to the Camera Roll.

Cheers,

Well, I guess I will retract the report -- I restarted my phone, now
it's all good again. Have to wait a bit, but it came up. Sorry to
bother everyone.

Cheers,

On further thought, I think I know what you might be experiencing.
Make sure you have network connectivity (wifi, 3G, etc.). The X
server needs to get an address to use and it may actually have
something to do with the network you're on (host lookup, etc.) that's
causing it to appear to hang. The wait time will be dependent on the
network you happen to be using at the time. My apologies.

For the record, I'm seeing this same LONG hang after starting an
X session every once in a while.

The X session is on my local are network.
I start something as simple as Xterm , then
I step to the Active connections screen, Press the Big X, and it turns darker.
Then there is a huge looong Hang. Long enough to get a screen shot, (not that its very enlightening).
Then finally the X background pops up.

By LONG I mean in excess of three minutes on wifi.
Then iSSH crashed.
Upon subsequently repeating these steps it was much faster.

That's exactly what I am seeing. (After a reboot, that is.)

The app is actually getting stuck on a semi-private API call that
Apple called me out on my last submission. This code will be revised
and possibly given a timeout as well. There's no need to get the IP
of the X display if you intent to tunnel it anyway.

Will be fixed in the next release. Ad hocs will be available as usual
if necessary.
