The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is working with the public, recreation user groups, and local stakeholders to develop a recreation plan for the Snoqualmie corridor.
*Your response to this survey is very important.
It will help guide a citizen-based recreation planning committee as they work to improve recreation access and opportunities on DNR managed lands within the Snoqualmie corridor.
The Snoqualmie corridor, located in eastern King County, offers tremendous opportunities for outdoor recreation near Seattle and east King County metropolitan areas, and over the years, DNR has increased the amount of land it manages. The area being planned for encompasses 53,000 acres of DNR-managed state trust lands (State Forests shown in pink) and Natural Resources Conservation Areas (NRCA's shown in green), including:
• Tiger Mountain State Forest
• West Tiger Mountain NRCA
• Raging River State Forest
• Rattlesnake Mountain Scenic Area (an NRCA)
• Mt. Si NRCA
• Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie NRCA
• DNR managed forestlands surrounding the community of Preston
This plan will guide how DNR manages recreation on these lands for the next 10 to 15 years. It will focus primarily on the Raging River State Forest and the Middle Fork Snoqualmie NRCA, which are most in need of planning. The other landscapes have existing management plans that will be updated during the planning process. The planning effort will also explore ways to improve connectivity for public recreation by looking at regional and local trail connections.
