Hi bike/ped people!

The state of Washington is doing bicycle and pedestrian counts again this year on September 27, 28, and 29. If you would like to help out with the counts, see the email below for information on how to sign up. This is an easy way to help out the cause of bicycle and pedestrian transportation.

Thanks!
Jeff

Greetings,

I wanted to pass along the volunteer online sign-up for the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Counts. It would be great if you could participate or forward the message to your networks as counts will be taking place in many of your communities.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ian Macek at mac...@wsdot.wa.gov or 360-705-7596 or Tessa Greegor at tessa....@cascadebicycleclub.org or 206-204-0913.

~Kimberly

Thanks for your support!

The Washington State Department of Transportation and Cascade Bicycle Club are back for year four of the Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Counts Project. This project helps measure the progress made across the state in bicycling and walking and helps us plan for new and improved trails and safe facilities.

We need your help to conduct bicycle and pedestrian counts in over 30 cities this year, up from only 16 when we first started a few years ago. To sign up for a volunteer shift, click here. If you have any issues with logging in or are unable to make your shift once you have signed up, please email Tessa Greegor.

Date: You can choose September 27, 28, and/or 29 to conduct counts.
Time: Count times are 7 to 9 am and 4 to 6 pm.

We will follow-up with you to confirm your shift location and time, and to ensure you have all the materials you need to perform the counts. In the meantime, feel free to read more about the project here, and download volunteer instructions and count forms here.

Counts will be taken in several cities including: Bainbridge Island, Bellevue, Bellingham, Bothell, Bremerton, Burien, Ellensburg, Everett, Ferndale, Issaquah, Kelso, Kent, Kirkland, Longview, Lynden, Mercer Island, Mountlake Terrace, Oak Harbor, Olympia, Redmond, Renton, Richland, Seattle, Shoreline, Spokane, Tacoma, Tukwila, Vancouver, Walla Walla, Wenatchee and Yakima.

If you would like volunteer in Bellingham, Burien, Everett, Parkland, Puyallup, Tukwila or Wenatchee you will need to contact the following people (these cities are coordinating their own volunteers):

We still need all the volunteer support we can get in many of the cities around the state. Please pass this message along to friends and community groups that might be interested in volunteering.

We look forward to working with you!

Ian Macek
