I’m activating CN77 way out in the Olympic Peninsula on Thursday 9/2 this week.

I’ll focus on meteor scatter 50.260 in the morning 6-10 am Pacific, and then FT8 until noon. SSB and CW on request. I’ll bring the usual KW amp and 5-el beam.

I’ll use portable /P callsign and CMSH (contest mode, short tones) on WSJT.

At this late in the skip season, it’s unlikely to have any good openings on 6m.

Most of the grid is hard to reach from the east with the pesky Olympic Mountain range in the way. There are good paths south to California, for sure. I’ll be on forest service roads seeking out high spots, so I’m hopeful. I had good luck reaching CM87 from Mt Octopus on my last visit.

Let me know if you want CN77 and I’ll add you to my JTalert list. So far I’ve heard from Vlad K6VVP, Sam WB6RJH, Alan N5NA, Steve KJ7OG, Richard W7RCS, John W0GN.

This is a 3-day scouting trip to find better CN77 spots and update my rover location database. I’ll  be on-the-air Thursday morning for sure; possibly other times on Wed-Thu-Fri if I find a really good place and want to try it. It should be a fun trip this week, driving around the most scenic wilderness in the PNW.

Coordination on Slack “vhf chat” channel if I have internet access. If needed, text me at 425-503-5548 (always include your callsign and grid square).
