I am in classes.  I might not be home by 7pm.

Two items:

  • The May classes
  • Field Day

I previously wrote about the May classes.

Upside: trained and tested several technicians and generals.

  • I don’t have a report from Daniel Stevens yet.

Downside: Community Center unhappy, we are not welcome back.

  • We were desperately shorthanded: 2 teachers for 2 simultaneous classes; 3 VEs, no other support

For perspective:

  • Previous classes at City Eagle Room: no hard deadlines, no staff, plenty of time to set up and clean up.
  • This class at Community Center: rigid deadlines, staff with obligations

The City (Lee Shin et al) still wants to support HAM training, but somewhere else.

The next time, if the IARC is still involved, I think there must be more involvement than my time and money.

I spent over $100, but lost some receipts.

Field Day

I hope we have some events.

My plan: go mobile on the boat again, with the IC-718 and portable HF antenna.

This time, go direct from 12V, not through the DC/AC inverter, which makes RF noise.

I hope to connect to other club members, etc.

I will also try all the bands on my home station: IC-7300 and flagpole HF/6M antenna.
