The presentation last night by Tom Schiller, N6BT <
https://n6bt.com/> was
such a delight! It was super interesting to see the results of good antenna
modeling combined with scientific experimentation. Tom's progress with
elevated radials for vertical antennas was impressive. I wish I had known
about this possibility before I did all the hard work of laying ground
radials under the lawn of my backyard. (See:
https://www.kk7tm.com/ )
Tom showed the practical results of using the EZNEC antenna modeling
software, which I recommend highly. EZNEC provides a relatively easy user
interface to the U.S. Government-funded Numerical Electromagnetic Codes
(NEC). The final version EZNEC Pro/2+ v. 7.0. is available for FREE here:
https://eznec.com/
EZNEC has a plethora of features (a.k.a. geek knobs). Figuring out how to
use it was daunting to me initially, so I went upstream to its creator Roy
Lewallen, W7EL, by participating in his hands-on workshop at SEA-PAC.
If you would like me to give a simplified presentation and demo about how to
use EZNEC to model antennas sometime, please let me know.
I'm looking forward to seeing you at future IARC meetings and activities!

Tim Myers, KK7TM
