IARC - W7BI
Short update message and meeting announcement, from your President, KG7OI, Bruce
Well here we are end of June, halfway through the year. Yikes. Seems like just a while ago I was thinking we had so much time ahead to plan for Field Day and our other events. So here we are, just about into July with a quick update:
********************************************************
Field Day:
The IARC Field Day this year was again a Valley Camp in North Bend.
Featured decent weather and a great turn out. Valley Camp is such a wonderful facility, and our hosts are wonderful. The group consisted of:
IARC
SNOVARC
North Bend ARC (NBAT?)
Eastside Fire Hams
Local CERT groups
(Forgot anyone, let me know)
Super attendance. Just visiting the numerous emergency response vehicles was a thrill. We operated with the tri-band beam on the tower and I believe 5 end fed antennas. Several others, including a HF Hex Loop, 6M dipole and lots of various verticals. Lots
of radios set up in at least 3 or 4 clusters. Band conditions were typical, meaning generally poor. 20M for most daytime spots with 40M and 80M doing pretty good in the evening. Good times.

Picnic:
Our annual July meeting will again be a picnic social.
I am not really planning on much of a business meeting. If there are any topics needing addressing, please let me know and we can get them on the “agenda”.
Due to some minor issues at our old venue, this year we are going to try
Sammamish, Beaver Lake Park, The Pavilion.
Directions:
You can find the Sammamish Plateau. Find SE 24th/Street at 228 Ave SE, the intersection with the traffic light. Take 24th North abt a mile or so. Thru the STOP 244TH , then up the little hill. Continue and just as the road looks to take a bend to the left,
take the right turn, onto SE 24th Street again. Park will be just down on your right.
Link showing overhead view of park. Note the pavilion on the lower right. Parking is good. You can unload at the traffic circle nearby.
If someone can figure out a radio we should have a talk-in on
146.58 Simplex. Coverage should be good on the plateau, but probably not too great off the hill.
Members, YL’s, XYL’s, harmonics, SO’s etc are invited. Pizza, salad, desert * will be provided. We will provide bottled water. If you want anything else to drink BYO-x.

We will see, but I have been informed we may have an appearance of Molly’s world famous cookies. Be there to enjoy!
I have also been informed a small ceremony may be happening to celebrate a member’s life-changing event, to be announced.
We have a THEME this year:
PORTABLE ANTENNAS.
So bring whatever you have for show and tell. HF, VHF, UHF, SWL, whatever.
Based on two of our past presentations I will bring my ED FONG J-POLE and my ELK ANTENNA 5-Element Dual Band LOG PERIODIC. Both are really elegant solutions.
Planning on start-up around 5PM. Eat around 6. They say we should be gone by dusk, figure 8:30 or 9.
CU There!
