My FX-4CR radio purchase

I just found out my new radio purchase attempt did not work.  ( the FX-4CR very small HF radio) .  I had an attack of "I want it'; and had some extra funds sitting in my piggy bank.

 It seem there must have been a higher power at work.  They are out of stock and will be for a while.  I may have to just repair my FT-817 instead, now that Mihai reminded me to find my spare RF module.

 In the mean time, I will spend that money, and more,  on a new set of tires for Phyllis' car.

I'm curious as to the reason the FX-4CR didn't work - was it DOA or did it have some other issue?  With new radios, you have to worry about hardware AND firmware upgrades now.  

I would vote for buying more radio stuff, rather than essentials.

   The attempt at buying the radio did not work, because there were none available to buy, and no expected time to have more completed.

   I did not receive a 'dud' radio.
