Hi Sophia,
My name is Bob (KI7RMO) and I am responding to Rick’s email. I’ll introduce myself as mainly interested in emergency communications (EmComm), but have dabbled a bit in HF. For HF, there is no better elmer than Rod (WE7X), so you are on the right track there. If you have an interest in EmComm, there are lots of options and between Mihai (W4MHI) and me, we can get you headed along that path.
In the meantime, enjoy what’s left of summer and I’ll look forward to meeting you in person at the October IARC meeting. Unfortunately, I can’t help you with rocketry or telemetry.
73, Bob (KI7RMO)

Sophia, you might want to reach out to Bob Otis (cc’d here) who can help you get your HT programmed to all the repeaters in the area. And tell you about the local nets too.
Hi Everyone,
Realized my introduction was a bit brief on zoom, so I wanted to elaborate a bit! My name is Sophia Sun (KK7YNA), and I'm a senior at Skyline High School up on the Sammamish Plateau. Apart from HAM Radio, I'm also interested in amateur rocketry, particularly telemetry and the 433 MHz band! I have a handheld Explorer QRZ-1 to transmit on. I've pasted a headshot below since I didn't have my camera on this zoom meeting. Thank you Mr. Decuir and Mr. Johnson for offering equipment and coaching; I'll definitely take you up on that!

Hello Sophia,
I am a longtime supporter of public schools. My son Kris graduated Issaquah High School in 2004.
My other three children went to Interlake High School, classes of 2001, 2003 and 2007.
I have a spare HF radio, iCom-718, 80M-10M, + 12VDC power supply.
Unfortunately I gave the antenna to someone else.
(My other HF antenna is mounted in the ground outside my house, connected to IC-7300.)
I have an abundance of handheld radios.
VETCO Electronics (Bellevue) also sells Baofeng handhelds.
(Only electronics store in the PNW!)
If you don’t have access to a radio, let me know.
