בנימין פנטליאט עובד שנים רבות על מיפוי ותיעוד הקהילות האשכנזיות בגליל - צפת וטבריה, לפי משפחותיהם, על פי פנקסי החברא קדישא, מצבות בתי העלמין, ומפקדי האוכלוסין. את המידע שאסף על טבריה, הוציא
לאור בספרו, הקהילה האשכנזית בטבריה, מהדורה ראשונה 2015, ומהדורה שניה 2017. מאז, הוא ממשיך באיסוף החומר על צפת, ובעיבודו לספר, שאמור לצאת לאור בשנה הקרובה בעזרת השם. בהרצאתו ידגים בנימין פנטליאט, כיצד הוא מזהה את השמות על המצבות, וכיצד הוא נעזר בפנקסי החברא
קדישא לזיהוי הקשרים המשפחתיים.
בנימין פנטליאט, יליד ירושלים 1983, נשוי ואב לשבע. הוא חבר העמותה הישראלית לחקר שורשי משפחה ועוסק בגנאלוגיה קרוב לעשרים שנה. בנימין הוא מומחה בגנאלוגיה רבנית, ומגשר על הפער שבין מגילות יוחסין
עתיקות לבין עצי משפחה מודרניים. הוא היה אחד ממתנדבי פרויקט דיגיטציית מפקדי מונטיפיורי. לשעבר עמית מחקר במכון "עד הנה" לחקר המורשת התורנית בגליציה ובוקובינה. מחבר הספר: הקהילה האשכנזית בטבריה, )הספר הבא, הקהילה האשכנזית בצפת, בשלבי עריכה). מפעיל בלוג גנאלוגי

Ashkenazi Communities in the Galilee

Binyamin Pantelat has been working for many years on mapping and documenting the Ashkenazi communities in the Galilee—specifically in Safed and Tiberias—according to their family lineages, using the records of the Chevra Kadisha (burial society), cemetery gravestones,
and population censuses. The information he gathered about Tiberias was published in his book The Ashkenazi Community in Tiberias, first edition in 2015 and second edition in 2017. Since then, he has continued collecting material about Safed and is currently
preparing it for publication in a book expected to be released in the coming year, God willing. In his lecture, Binyamin Pantelat will demonstrate how he identifies names on gravestones and how he uses the Chevra Kadisha records to trace family connections.
Beniamin Panteliat, born in Jerusalem in 1983, is married and a father of seven. He is a member of the Israel Genealogy Society and has been engaged in genealogy for nearly twenty years. Beniamin
specializes in rabbinic genealogy and bridges the gap between ancient lineage scrolls and modern family trees. He was one of the volunteers in the digitization project of the Montefiore Censuses. He is a former research fellow at the “Ad Heina” Institute for
the Study of Torah Heritage in Galicia and Bukovina. He authored the book The Ashkenazi Community in Tiberias, and his next book, The Ashkenazi Community in Safed, is currently in the editing stages. He also runs a genealogy blog titled “Toladot veShoreshim
