Join us online for this dynamic, international GLAM sector panel talk on:
Disruption, trends and transformation: Libraries and Archives leading change
Bonjour!
Hosted by the National Library of New Zealand, in this panel talk, you can learn how the library and archives sectors are responding to change and disruption, helping to nurture the convergence of knowledge and the transformation of communities around the world.
This panel talk is a celebration of the opening of our new Heritage Campus — Te Kahu in Wellington, New Zealand which brings together Archives New Zealand, the National Library of New Zealand (including the Alexander Turnbull Library) and Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision.
Facilitated by Rachel Esson, National Librarian of New Zealand, the international panellists are:
· Anahera Morehu, (Ngāti Whātua, Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi, Te Aupōuri, Ngāti Kahu), Poumanaaki Chief Archivist at Archives New Zealand
· Leslie Weir, Librarian and Archivist of Canada at Library and Archives Canada (LAC)
· Dr Marie-Louise Ayres, Director-General at National Library of Australia (NLA)
· Simon Froude, Director-General at National Archives of Australia (NAA)
· Robin L Dale, the acting Principal Deputy Librarian of Congress and the Deputy Librarian for Library Collections & Services at the Library of Congress, United States of America
The discussion draws inspiration from Rūaumoko, who is the atua Māori or Māori god, (Māori are the indigenous peoples of New Zealand). Rūaumoko is associated with earthquakes, volcanoes and the movement of the land. In this context, Rūaumoko represents disruption, but also transformation and creativity.
