I am getting trouble generate hebrew characters with gem of pdf-writer
(1.1.8)

Data is coming as UTF-8 (from database), but pdf-writer is seems not
working with utf..

i tried Iconv to convert to ISO-8859-8 <> UTF8 encoding (witch is
hebrew) but it does not help,

c = Iconv.new ...
( tried also few other methods)

Any ideas ?

You can go with Prince XML - http://www.princexml.com

(there is a past discussion in this group about this topic)

Yes prawn is definitely good, but its capabilities are not enough for
us. (since its early alpha version).

After some research i decided to use prince xml libraries (dont need
to learn extra "pdf" language, just using html+css)..
Price for license are really worth that.
