The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia pardoned prisoners serving time for violating public rights and who do not pose a threat to society, Saudi Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Naif announced yesterday.
The pardon also covers those jailed for uncleared debts and blood money and those not convicted of serious crimes or corruption and embezzlement of public money, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Prince Muhammad hoped that the pardon beneficiaries would take this as a lesson and never repeat their crimes.
"The royal order will subside the pains of the relatives of the prisoners and prompt them to serve their religion, country and the safety of their society," the minister added. (QNA)
