This is just a taste of the premiere at Abu Gosh, when the PHOENIX Ensemble performed the world premiere of the complete oratorio NABUCCO by Michelangelo Falvetti. PHOENIX brings now Falvetti's Nabucco to concert halls across Israel.

The superb Sicilian baroque six-voice oratorio is based on the Book of Daniel, and its dramatic plot brings to life the story of the three Jewish youths condemned by King Nebuchadnezzar to be thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to worship the king's statue.

Conductor, musical director: Myrna Herzog

According to Gershon Cohen, director of the Abu Gosh Festival, the performance of Nabucco by Ensemble PHOENIX stunned the audience, who referred to it as "one of the best and most interesting concerts in the history of the festival". "Deeply moved, the audience showed its enthusiasm in lengthy applause, shouts and whistles". Pamela Hickman
