Call for papers
Agents and Worlds: The enactive approach between philosophy and science
3-5 June 2025, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim

Please note the extended deadline below.

We invite philosophers and scientists to join us in a workshop exploring how enactive concepts can inform and inspire interdisciplinary epistemologies and methodologies in the sciences and vice versa how scientific concern and challenges may inform and help ground enactive theory. The workshop is divided into three main themes to be discussed over the course of three days. Day 1 is dedicated to the theoretical and conceptual foundations of the enactive approach. Days 2 and 3 will explore the potential implications and inspirations of enactive theory for theoretical and methodological considerations in science and society, focussing particularly on AI and human-technology interactions. The third day will concentrate on the health sciences, exploring both existing applications of enactive concepts in scientific research and theory in these areas, and the extent to which enactive concepts could be applied to inform new theoretical foundations for health research, especially in the fields of neurology, neuroscience, and psychology.

Our keynote speakers: Shaun Gallagher, Evan Thompson, Jonathan Knowles, Miriam Kyselo, Sverre Myren, Cathrine Legg, Lucy Osler, May Thorseth and Rebecca Todd.

We welcome submissions for papers (20 min oral presentation) to be presented at the workshop. Papers should relate to the workshop themes and discuss ways in which enactive concepts may inform or apply in scientific research.
The submission of abstracts (max. 150 words) should include:
1. The title of the proposed contribution
2. The name(s) of the authors, together with affiliation(s) and email address(es)
