Fellows will receive up to $50,000 in funding and
additional research support for one year, with the
possibility of renewal contingent on demonstrated
progress. Investigators from all fields of research
with a distinguished body of work are invited to
submit projects. Each fellowship will conclude with a
public-facing written report, produced in
collaboration with CTS.
Applications
are due by July 22nd and can be submitted via this online

This year’s
fellowship seeks proposals studying one or more of the
following areas as they intersect with online hate and
harassment and making digital environments welcoming and
inclusive spaces for all:

content moderation and/or disinformation
- Algorithmic
amplification of extremism & hate
- Online gaming
- Supporting targets
of online hate & harassment

various domains of technology. Current fellows are tracking
disinformation in political advertising on Facebook
(including in English and in Spanish), evaluating the
effectiveness of deplatforming extremists, and
researching experiences of toxicity in online games
among youth, including among targets, bystanders, and
perpetrators.
