Call for Papers – Special Issue on “Contemplative Computing”

Together with Angela Orebaugh (University of Virginia; Harvard University) and Alex Soojung-Kim Pang (Stanford University), we invite you to contribute to a special issue https://contemplativejournal.org/announcements/special-issue-09-contemplative-computing/ .
This issue explores how contemplative traditions and practices might adapt to—or resist—technological mediation. We welcome interdisciplinary perspectives bridging technology, mindfulness, psychology, philosophy, design, and beyond.

Submission Details:
Formats: Research articles (up to 15,000 words), shorter explorations (2,000–5,000 words), and creative or artistic submissions.
Abstract deadline: December 1, 2025 (300–500 words) Final articles due: June 1, 2026

If you’re curious or have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We look forward to your contributions!

Angela, Alex & Gunter
